Antifogs
Food packaging for hot and cold applications becomes opaque when water droplets build up on the inside of the package. Polyvel’s polyethylene and polypropylene antifog masterbatches eliminate that problem by causing surface moisture to coalesce into a transparent film.
Antimicrobials
Polyvel's antimicrobial masterbatches are extremely effective at low levels and are offered in most thermoplastic resins. Silver, trichlosan, and other proprietary technologies are available.
Antistats
Measures must be taken to prevent electrostatic buildup in many plastics. Powders generate explosion hazards when filling containers. Sensitive electronics can be destroyed by static charges on plastic packages. Polyvel’s polyethylene and polypropylene antistat masterbatches eliminate the hazard and are approved for FDA drug and food applications.
Clarifying Agents
Polypropylene film or molded parts are typically translucent. Polyvel’s clarifying agent masterbatch significantly reduces polypropylene haze. The pellets can be added directly to the film line or molding machine.
Custom Masterbatches & Compounds
Polyvel develops custom additive masterbatches tailored to specific customer needs. Our proprietary technology for the incorporating high percentages of liquid and low melting point additives into thermoplastics allows us the opportunity to offer a cost effective solution for customers. Fragrance : PolyScent™
Fragrances are generally liquid and difficult to use in film and molding processes. Polyvel offers 5-25% active fragrance masterbatches in polymultiple carriers. Foamed pellets are offered for sachets and potpourris. PolyScentTM products can be colored as well.
GMS (Foam stabilizer, Antistat, Release aid)
GMS (glyceryl mono stearate) is a useful polymer additive but difficult to handle in plastic processes without investing in hot liquid handling equipment. Polyvel offers 50% active masterbatches (52 and 90% mono GMS) for polyethylene film and low density foam that is easily metered with standard pellet feeders.
Polyvel produces alcohol/water repellent and absorbent masterbatches for the fiber industry. They are sold through Polyvel’s joint venture partner, Goulston Technologies. Polyvel also offers similar masterbatches they have developed in house for non-fibrous applications.
Polyvel offers a range of pelletized, additive masterbatches that modify the surface energy and reduce the coefficient of friction for film, sheet and injection molded parts. Additives include molybdenum disulfide, zinc stearate, magnesium stearate, erucamide, oleamide, ethylene bis-stearamide (EBS), and silicone fluids. Depending on the additive, masterbatches are 5-70% active.
Polyvel's newest product line is designed to absorb, mask, or neutralize odors depending on the application and resin. Food contact compliance is available for most grades.
Peroxides are used to reduce polypropylene molecular weight and crosslink polyethylene and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). Peroxides are difficult to handle as the neat powder or liquid at the required low percentage. Polyvel offers 5-20% active peroxide pelletized masterbatches that are safe, easy to handle, and can be fed accurately at low use levels.
One of our newest products, PET chain extenders raise intrinsic viscosity (I.V.) of PET and other condensation polymers by 20-40% providing increased molecular weight and improved melt strength. This masterbatch is ideal for increased recycling rates.
PLA Additives
Polyvel has worked for over seven years developing additive masterbatches to augment polylactic acid’s (PLA) processing and properties. In 2007 Polyvel became a NatureWorks Certified Additive Producer. PLA is a resin that is manufactured from renewable resources. Polyvel offers a complete line of PLA based masterbatches including antiblocks, slips, plasticizers, clarifiers, impact modifiers, melt strength modifiers, and foam nucleating agents.
Reducing brittleness, increasing ductility, and improving softness are just some of the benefits possible with use of our plasticizers.
Processing Aids
Polyvel’s process aid masterbatches improve throughput rate, clarity, physical properties, and melt strength for a range of thermoplastic polymers by reducing or eliminating melt fracture and other process induced imperfections that can occur with high shear processing conditions.
Tolling
Our twin-screw extruders (counter and co-rotating) can be outfitted with a variety of feeders, pelletizers, and other specialtized manufacturing equipment.
