Polyscent Material Use and Finished Product Development
Polyscent™ concentrates can be added through an additive feeder, or batch blended with your base resins in a pre-blend.
Polyscent™ concentrates are produced at a size specification which
is equivalent to standard plastic resins, assuring that you do not
experience separation during or after blending.
All Polyscent™ concentrates are engineered for use at standard
resin processing temperatures, but we always recommend holding the
process temperatures to the low end as possible to assure minimal loss
of fragrance during processing. It is additionally recommended that you
purge equipment between runs of different fragrances or after a
fragrance run to assure that you do not cross contaminate products. A
standard purge procedure such as you would use with a color changeover
is acceptable and no special purging compounds should be required.
Almost every application for Polyscent™ is unique and different
in size, shape, thickness, and fragrance delivery requirements. Factors
such as these along with resin to be fragranced, fragrance type and
desired release rates all play a significant role in the performance of
a finished product.
Through years of experience in the creation of fragranced
products we are able to assist in estimates of product longevity, and
performance based on these parameters, and assist in testing finished
products to assure they meet your desired performance criteria.
Other factors that affect finished product performance include
airflow, heat, and product decoration (labels, hot stamping, etcÖ). Our
technical team is here to aid you in the creation of a product that
performs to your desired parameters, and make your project a success.
Polyscent™ technology is based on the controlled migration and
release of fragrance from a polymer matrix. After finished parts have
been produced it is advisable to allow them to rest for 24-48 hours
prior to evaluation, allowing the fragrance to begin its migration from
the plastic carriers.
Immediately after production of the finished parts, as well as
when preparing them for shipping and sale it is imperative to package
them in fragrance barrier packaging in order to preserve the fragrance
during shipment, and optimize the finished product shelf life.
