Antimicrobial Masterbatches
Polyvel’s VA- series of pelletized antimicrobial masterbatches kill microorganisms with a silver or trichlosan agent.
The silver-based masterbatches are effective against:
- Multiple types of Staphylococcus bacteria
- E. coli
- Salmonella bacteria
- Gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria
- Wide array of fungal organisms
Silver is approved for food and water handling applications and works through a mechanism that inhibits:
- Permeability of the cell membrane
- Metabolism
- Reproduction
Trichlosan kills pathogenic bacteria and yeast through a mechanism that blocks lipid synthesis in the target cell.
The products are available in a number of different carrier resins as free-flowing pellets for addition in sheet extrusion and injection molding. Please contact us to discuss your specific application.
