Rowa had operated its own production site in nearby Delran, N.J. The combined site will operate 10 twin-screw extrusion lines, officials said in a Sept. 26 news release. Both firms make a range of additive masterbatches and custom compounds based on several commodity and engineering resins. Rowa is a unit of Rowa Group of Hamburg, Germany. Combining the two firms "makes great sense for both companies,” Polyvel President Brian Tidwell said in the release. "We’re excited about what it means for us going forward.” Rowa President David Baglia added that having the two firms’ sales and technical teams work together "will provide more resources to develop products.” - Plastics News, 9/29/11

February 2011 Improved Polypropylene Antifog, VF-P05
Polyvel, Inc,
a recognized leader in the production of antifog masterbatches for use in
polyolefin food packaging, has announced the development of VF-P05, a new
version that is highly effective in cold applications. For use in either
coextruded or monolayer sheet, this innovative product shows exceptional
performance by working more rapidly than previous versions. Additionally,
VF-P05 is more efficient in reducing condensation, resulting in a clearer, more
transparent sheet. While this product was designed specifically for cold,
refrigerated conditions, it also performs well in a hot environment, and has an
added benefit of performing equally as well in both homopolymer and copolymer
PP. VF-P05 is 30% active, a high concentration by antifog standards, making it
a cost effective choice. Letdown rates will vary depending upon sheet structure
and composition.

Polyvel’s Introduces Improved Antimicrobial and Odor Managing Masterbatches
Polyvel has introduced two new series of masterbatches for controlling bacteria growth and odor. The VA-series of masterbatches contain silver, trichlosan, or proprietary agents that effectively kill microorganisms ranging from fungus, to E. coli, to salmonella. Available for use in most thermoplastic resins, they add value wherever bacteria, mold or mildew could compromise product performance. These masterbatches can be used in most processing conditions, including nonwovens, injection molding, and sheet extrusion. Since bacteria can emit unpleasant odors, antimicrobials are an excellent method of controlling unwanted scents.
When the source is not bacteria, Polyvel’s ZO-series of odor managing masterbatches are effective in end-product scent improvement, processing odor reduction, wood-polymer composites, recycling and external odor control. Representing a cost-effective means of reducing and possibly eliminating odor, they are offered in multiple mechanisms depending on the application.
